A few steps. Then try it together.

  1. Download the app

    Use the download button on your Android phone. An APK is the file that installs the app.

  2. Allow and install

    Open the downloaded file. If Android asks, allow your browser to install this app, then tap Install. You can turn that permission off afterwards.

  3. Open HERO

    Open the app and use Set up phone to allow the phone permissions. You are ready to try your first signal.

Test with a second phone.

Install HERO on both phones and allow location access. Receiving is on by default. Keep HERO open on both phones during your test.

Why does Android ask for installation permission?

This beta is installed directly from an APK, outside Google Play. Android asks you to allow the browser or file app you are using to install it. Only use the download linked from this official HERO page.

Do I need an account or test code?

No. Open HERO after installing and it sets up access automatically. You do not need Telegram to use the app.

Can I test with the app closed?

For this beta, keep HERO open on both phones. Do not depend on signals arriving while the app is closed or in the background.

How do I get updates or report a problem?

Return to this page for the available Android version. If you would like to share feedback, you can use official Telegram. Include your phone model, app version and what happened. Leave out precise locations and other personal information.

Is this available for iPhone?

This download is for Android only. It cannot be installed on an iPhone.
